How to Get to Selous River Camp

By Air:
We recommend Coastal Aviation. Flights can be easily booked online and are around $165 per person for a one way flight from Dar es Salaam. The flight lasts around 45 minutes from Dar es Salaam to our local airstrip Selous Lower (Mtemere). Flights can also be booked from Zanzibar and other areas in Tanzania. There is a landing fee to pay the Game Reserve on arrival of $11.80 per person which we would include on your invoice if you arrive by plane. We can collect you from the airstrip and drive you short the 15 minutes through the game reserve back to camp free of charge.

The drive from Dar es Salaam to Selous River Camp is 230km and takes around six hours by car. 100km of the road (from Kibiti to camp) is rough road. It is also possible to reach us via Morogoro, Kisaki and Matambwe.

By Our Transfer Car:
Selous River Camp is happy to arrange a vehicle to come and collect you from wherever you are in Dar es Salaam and drive you to camp. The company we work with charges $295 for this service. Please contact us for availability and further details.

By Bus:
There is a local bus which leaves Dar es Salaam (Temeke Sudani area) at around 6.30am daily and drives to Mloka village, where we can collect you. The bus is not a reliable source of transport and is very uncomfortable - and as a result we don't recommend it unless you are the most adventurous and hardy of travellers!

By Train:
Sadly we cannot offer pick up from any of the train stations in the North of the Selous. The timetable of the train means that the train arrives in the evening. As we are not permitted to drive after dark in the Selous we are unable to bring you back to camp.
