Things to Know about Camp
Check In and Check Out
Check in - 2pm, if your room is ready before then we are happy to check you in early.
Check out - 10am, you are welcome to relax in the communal areas until you are ready to leave, luggage storage is available
Guests are required to sign a Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk form at check in. We only ask that one guest per booking group fills and signs the form on behalf of the whole group. It is a condition of your stay with us and guests who do not sign the form will not be accommodated at Selous River Camp. If you would like to see a copy of this form before arrival in camp please let us know.
Electricity
As the camp is situated in the bush, we are not connected to the power grid - instead we use solar power and a generator. Please do not use appliances such as hairdryers or electric shavers as they use large a large volume of power to run. There are charging points available at the bar to charge your camera batteries and phones in the evenings when the generator is running between 6pm and 10pm.
What’s Provided?
Towels and bedding are provided in all bandas and tents. We also provide a torch/flashlight per banda and tent, although we suggest bringing your own. We also provide filtered drinking water which we recommend you use for brushing teeth (filtered water is free of charge during your stay with us and is supplied in your room and also kept in the fridge at the bar).
Food
Meals are all served in our dining area. If you have a special dietary request (i.e. vegetarian/allergies) please let us know at the earliest opportunity so we can best cater for you.
Breakfast is usually served from 6am - 9am, depending on ones safari schedule.
Lunch in camp is usually served from 12pm - 1pm, depending on ones safari schedule.
Dinner is usually served from 7pm - 8pm.
Drinks
Drinks can be purchased in camp from our bar. We have a variety of soft drinks, beers, spirits and wines which will be noted down during your stay and paid for at check out. Please note we can accept cash (USD, TSH) or credit card as payment in camp (+3% surcharge).
Laundry
A laundry service is offered in camp and is charged at a flat rate of Tsh1,000/= per item. All the income we receive from our laundry service goes directly to our housekeeping staff.
Tips
We have a communal tip box on the bar, tipping is at your own discretion but greatly appreciated. There is no perfect formula, but if it helps, we have about 20 members of staff working in camp, many who are working hard behind the scenes. Please note guides & drivers are not included in the tip box, as they generally receive a tip after each safari.
